Free Christmas Clip Cards
These free Christmas clip cards help kids learn the numbers 1 to 20. They’re a fun addition to preschool or kindergarten math centers during the festive season.
You can choose from two different sets. The first set helps kids to count and the second set helps kids learn how to read numbers and number words.
Free Christmas Counting Clip Cards
Preparation – Start by printing and laminating the cards for added durability. After that, cut along the dotted lines to separate the cards. Place some pegs in a basket and you’re set to go! I sometimes use red and green pegs, or fancy Christmas themed pegs to make it even more Christmasy!
How to play – Spread the cards out on a flat surface. Pick a card, count the number of pictures and then clip a peg on the matching number.
Tip – If you’d like the kids to self-correct their answers, place a sticker on the back of each card behind the answer. I usually do this prior to laminating them, because in my experience, some kids love picking at the stickers!
Free Christmas Number Clip Cards
These are fun for kids who are learning to identify beginning sounds and read number words.
Preparation – Begin by printing and laminating the cards for added durability. After that, cut along the dotted lines to separate the cards. Then place some pegs in a basket and you’re set to go!
How to play – Lay the cards out. Choose one card and then read the numeral, for example “4”. Encourage the kids to sound out the word and say what the first sound is. Then they can look at the first letter of each word to work out the correct answer. For example, four starts with a /f/ sound so they’d need to look for a word that begins with the letter “f”.
Tip – When playing for the first time, limit the number of cards you put out to number sets such as 1 to 5, 1 to 10 or 10 to 20.
