Halloween Writing Crafts
These Halloween writing activities include seven fun Halloween craft templates! Kids can make a Frankenstein, witch, ghost, Jack-o’-lantern, haunted house, scarecrow and bat. They’re suitable for kids in preschool, kindergarten, first grade and second grade.
Halloween Activities
These writing crafts are a fun way to develop kid’s fine motor skills. I love that they include writing prompts and craft templates – such an awesome timesaver if you’re short on time!
Preparation – I began by printing the craft templates and writing paper. Then I grabbed some craft supplies such as acrylic paint, crayons, scissors, clear tape and glue sticks.
Frankenstein Writing Craft
I recommend using acrylic paint for this craft. The kids can either paint their own face (below left) or paint the face that is pre-made (below right). Personally, I love using blank faced crafts where possible because I love the unique designs that kids create.

Witch Writing Craft
For the witch crafts I used crayons to decorate the templates. But if you have kids in your class that get tired coloring in, you may want to use acrylic or water color paint instead – particularly for the larger areas such as the hat.

Scarecrow Writing Craft
These scarecrow craft templates are fun for the kids to paint. You could also get them to paste some cut up straw or yellow paper strips onto the hair.

Other Halloween Crafts
Some of the other crafts kids can make include a bat, haunted house, ghost and Jack-o’-lantern. With the Jack-o’-lantern the kids can design their own using the blank template or they can choose from a variety of character themed templates. I’m sure the dinosaur lizard Jack-o’-lantern will be a winner for the kiddos who LOVE dinosaurs!
