These Christmas fine motor activities include printable mats to use with playdough, erasable markers and loose parts. They’re a fun addition to Preschool, PreK and Kindergarten table time activities.

Fine Motor Playdough Mats

These Christmas playdough mats have three ways to play – playdough, erasable markers or loose parts.

Preparation – Begin by printing and laminating the playdough mats for added durability. Alternatively, you can pop them into a dry erase pocket sleeve.

How to Play – First grab a mat and name the picture. Next complete the picture with playdough, erasable markers or loose parts. Finally, clean the mat and choose a different one.

Christmas Playdough Mats

These particular playdough mats are great for kids working on squashing and rolling the playdough with their hands. Each mat has part of the picture missing and so the task is to use playdough to complete it.

Tracing Mats

For this activity kids need to use an erasable marker to trace over the dashed lines. After years of having a hard time wiping erasable markers off laminated sheets, I finally discovered “dry erase pocket sleeves”. These have been an absolute game changer for me, I highly recommend trying them if you haven’t done so already. They are SO much easier to wipe clean! They’re usually available from large stationary stores or online from sites like eBay or Amazon.

Loose Parts Mats

Another fun activity you can do, is to cover the lines or middle of the shapes with loose parts. For example, kids could use pom poms, buttons or small glass gems. When using these materials, it’s important to supervise young children to ensure safety, particularly with smaller items that could pose a choking hazard.
